Scanning Old Negatives
Scanning Old Negatives. Upon closer examination i noticed that in the newer negatives, the cell dividers are clear. I've been scanning an old b&w negative on an ordinary scanner, via scangear in photoshop 7, then using p7's 'inversion' option.
I have a epson v700 scanner and am trying to scan some negatives about 80 years old. Everyday flatbed scanners don't work to scan slides and negatives because they need to be backlit — but with just a bit of cardboard, you can redirect some light these free apps are designed to quickly scan old black and white and color film negatives and positive slides and turn them into digital photos. This produces the most amazing results, to me better than conventional printing.

I have old b & w negatives that measure 4.25 x 2.75 ,i tried to scan with the only slide insert that it would fit in. I highly recommend a flatbed scanner that comes with slide and 35 mm negative adapters/holders. They're no use there, so why not give them a new lease of life by scanning your slides, negatives and old photographs, and converting them to digital images? I wonder how many negatives still exist of humans born in the 18th century?
